Heat-cut edges are basically fused plastic fibers. Over time, as the pad’s surface flattens from use, those edges can start to fray or develop a slight lip. That lip catches your mouse skates, making the glide feel inconsistent near the edges. It’s annoying.
Stitched edges hold the weave together even as the center fibers wear down. The glide stays uniform across the whole pad for way longer. You won’t get that “rough patch” feeling six months in.
If you’re picky about muscle memory and consistent aim, spend the extra five bucks on a stitched pad. It’s worth it.
