Stop stacking berries. That's why they bruise.

The best fruit carrier isn’t a gadget — it’s any rigid, flat-bottomed container that lets you lay berries in a single layer.

The bruising isn’t from lack of cushioning. It’s from berries knocking into each other and from the weight of berries stacked on top. A hard-sided box — a bento box, a stainless LunchBots, even a cheap meal-prep container — solves this by keeping everything in one flat layer. Soft-sided bags and floppy sacks make it worse because the fruit rolls around all morning.

Silicone muffin cups are the actual pro hack. They’re a couple bucks at the grocery store, they hold one snug portion in place, and they add a soft wall between fruit zones. The expensive “fruit protector” inserts are fine, but they’re not better than silicone baking cups.

One bigger thing: moisture. Wash berries in the morning, not the night before — wet berries soften and bruise way faster. If you must pre-wash, dry them thoroughly and tuck a folded paper towel in the bottom to soak up condensation.

Future You deserves berries that are still berries at noon.
