Strollers on Venice bridges: expect to carry them.

Yes, strollers are allowed, but you’ll be lifting them a lot.

Most of the bridges in Venice have steps – no ramps. Some are narrow, some are crowded, and you’ll quickly find yourself carrying the stroller up and down every time you cross a canal. If you’ve got a lightweight stroller or a baby carrier, you’ll be fine. If you’ve got a massive jogging stroller, you’re going to hate life.

The paths between the islands (like the bridges from Venice to Murano or Burano) are generally flat and stroller-friendly once you’re on the island itself. But the bridge connections themselves still have steps. No way around it.

Plan to carry the stroller at least a dozen times per day. If that sounds like misery, bring a baby carrier instead.
