How to tell: First, look for an expiration date. Most sunscreens are good for three years from manufacture. If there’s no date printed, think back to when you bought it — if that’s fuzzy, toss it. Second, check the texture and smell. If it’s separated, lumpy, watery, or smells funky, it’s done.
Do not trust “it’s probably fine.” A burn from expired sunscreen sucks, but worse is the long-term skin damage you just paid for. Fresh sunscreen is cheap. Replace what’s old.
