Take it off the charger after it finishes.
Yes. That’s the single biggest thing you can do.
Robot vacuums use lithium-ion batteries, and leaving them sitting at 100% charge 24/7 accelerates degradation. Same as your phone or laptop. If your robot’s dock keeps it topped off indefinitely, the battery will be noticeably weaker within two years. Get into the habit of pulling it off the dock once it’s done charging—or set a smart plug to cut power after an hour.
Second biggest thing: keep it clean. Clogged brushes, dirty sensors, and tangled wheels make the motor work harder, which drains the battery faster and adds heat cycles. Wipe the charge contacts on both the robot and dock every couple of weeks too—dirty contacts cause trickle charging issues that stress the battery.
Lastly, run it regularly. Letting a lithium battery sit dead for weeks is worse than cycling it. If you’re leaving town, charge it to about 50-60% and store it off the dock.
Your battery will still die eventually, but this helps you squeeze past the two-year mark without noticeable fade.
