The 1994 'Stone Alone' Fan Convention and Which Ex-Stones Showed Up

In 1994, a group of die-hard Rolling Stones fans in London organized a convention called Stone Alone — named after Bill Wyman’s autobiography. It was one of the first major fan-run gatherings for the band, held at the Hammersmith Palais, and it drew collectors, bootleg traders, and curious followers from across Europe.

Two former band members attended: Bill Wyman (who had just left the Stones in 1993) and Mick Taylor (who played guitar from 1969 to 1974). Both gave interviews, signed autographs, and sat for Q&A sessions. No other ex-members showed — Brian Jones had died in 1969, and Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were still active (and didn’t attend). The convention helped cement Wyman and Taylor as approachable figures in the fan community, separate from the ongoing “Voodoo Lounge” tour.
