The 32GB premium is around $30–60 right now, depending on DDR4 vs DDR5.
Roughly double the RAM for maybe 50% more money. Totally worth it if you multitask heavily, run VMs, or do any kind of creative work.
DDR4 is cheap these days. A decent 16GB kit runs $30–40. The 32GB version is about $55–80. That’s a $25–40 difference — a no-brainer unless you’re strictly budget-building for a basic office machine.
DDR5 is newer and pricier. 16GB goes for $50–70, and 32GB is $90–130. The gap is wider ($40–60) but still reasonable for the performance jump in newer CPUs.
The real trap is buying a single 16GB stick now, planning to add another later. You’ll pay more overall, and matching kits can be annoying. Just buy the 32GB kit upfront.
