The Beatles had 20 number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100.

That’s the most of any act in history, and it’s not close. Paul McCartney actually has more total number ones if you count his solo and Wings work (he’s got 32), but as a band, the Fab Four landed 20 chart-toppers between 1964 and 1970.

If you’re counting, yes, “Hey Jude” and “Let It Be” are on there. So are “I Want to Hold Your Hand” and “Yesterday.” The list is long and ridiculously good.

A lot of people think it’s 21 or 19, but the official count from Billboard is 20. No need to argue with your uncle about it.
