The collapsible lunch box is the desk-drawer move.

Yeah, there are lunch boxes that fold flat — but if you want one that actually works, skip the fabric bag and get a silicone collapsible container with a hard lid.

Two designs do this. One is the soft lunch tote that folds away into its own pocket. Fine if you’re carrying a bagged lunch, but it’s basically just a bag. The other is a hybrid: a hard base and lid connected by silicone walls that collapse down. That one is the winner. It flattens to about the height of a Tupperware lid, holds soup without leaking, and you can toss it in the dishwasher.

These are sold everywhere as “collapsible bento boxes” or “folding food storage containers.” Some come in sets of three sizes that nest inside each other when flattened. That’s the best space-saving setup for a tiny kitchen too — they take up a drawer slot, not a whole cabinet shelf.

If by “fold flat” you mean paper-flat, no lunch box does that and also keeps your food intact. The silicone kinds get close enough.
