The compartment lunch box is making you pack too much food

That multi-compartment lunch box is making you overpack and over-wash, and the fix is simpler than you’d think.

First, you don’t have to fill every slot. Those empty compartments aren’t a failure, they’re just space. The whole reason the box feels wasteful is that you are portions into four boxes because four boxes exist. Use two slots. Leave the rest empty. Nothing bad happens.

The cleaning part comes down to corners. If yours is dishwasher safe, stop hand-washing and just run it. If it’s not, or if the dishwasher leaves stuff baked on, use silicone muffin cups inside the compartments. You wash the cup, not the tray.

If it’s a silicone tray, flip it inside out before washing. That gets the gunk out of the crevices that are supposedly “non-stick.”

Honest long-term take: if this box still annoys you after a couple of weeks, ditch it for one single container plus one small silicone cup for wet stuff like dressing or fruit. Same convenience, half the surface area, way easier to clean.

Your lunch box should work for you, not the other way around.
