The extra 16GB is worth it if you need it.

Probably, but only if you actually use more than 16GB.

Right now a 16GB DDR4 kit runs about $30–35, and 32GB is $55–65. So the jump is maybe $25–30. That’s cheap—cheaper than it’s been in years. DDR4 is at the end of its life, so prices aren’t going to drop much further.

For gaming, 16GB is still enough for almost everything. For heavy multitasking, virtual machines, or video editing, 32GB makes a real difference. If you’re unsure, open Task Manager or Activity Monitor while doing your normal work. If you’re consistently over 80% usage, spring for 32GB.

Don’t buy it just because it’s cheap. But if you can use it, this is the time to grab it.
