The fan-made map of the Rolling Stones' early tours used in the Exhibitionism museum show

The map in question was built by Nico Zentgraf, a German fan who has spent decades cataloging every Rolling Stones show. His hand-drawn touring maps — spanning 1963 into the early 1970s — were so meticulous that the band’s own archivists turned to them for the Exhibitionism museum show in 2016.

Zentgraf started tracking the Stones as a teenager in the 1960s, clipping newspaper gig listings and cross-referencing them with fan reports. By the time the exhibition opened at the Saatchi Gallery in London, his map of those early British and European routes was blown up into a wall-sized display — official proof that obsessive fan research can end up inside the museum, not just on a bedroom wall.
