The Final Cut is the last Pink Floyd album with Roger Waters.

Yes, The Final Cut (1983).

That album is basically a Roger Waters solo project in all but name. Waters wrote everything, handled most of the lead vocals, and the band dynamics were already dead. David Gilmour and Nick Mason barely contributed creatively. Rick Wright had already been fired during The Wall sessions.

After The Final Cut, Waters left and declared the band over. Then Gilmour and Mason (later with Wright) recorded A Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell without him.

Some people say The Wall (1979) feels like the last “real” band album. And they’re not wrong. But technically, The Final Cut is the answer.

If you’re making a playlist, just stop at The Wall. You’ll be happier.
