The Final Cut.
The Final Cut (1983) was made entirely without Richard Wright. He left during The Wall sessions a few years earlier, and while he gets a session credit on that album, The Final Cut is the only Pink Floyd album with zero Wright involvement.
Wright didn’t just leave — he was fired by Roger Waters during The Wall sessions. He came back for A Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell, but The Final Cut is essentially a Roger Waters solo project with David Gilmour and Nick Mason playing along. You can hear it in the sound — heavy on piano and orchestration, no subtle keyboards or harmonies that Wright brought.
If you’re looking for the one album where Pink Floyd is basically a trio (and not a happy one), that’s it.
