The First Rolling Stones Album to Feature a Song Written by a Non-Jagger/Richards Member

It took until 1967’s Their Satanic Majesties Request for a Rolling Stone other than Mick Jagger or Keith Richards to get a solo writing credit on an album. Bassist Bill Wyman wrote and sang “In Another Land,” a woozy, psychedelic ballad that stands apart from the rest of the record.

Wyman claimed he wrote the song on piano at home and brought it to the studio almost fully formed. The band added their parts, but the writing credit goes entirely to Wyman—a first for the group. Notably, the track also features John Paul Jones (future Led Zeppelin bassist) playing the horn arrangement.
