The floor is your friend.

The easiest way to keep a lunch box from sliding around in your vehicle is to put it on the floor.

Seats are the problem. Every turn, every bump, and the box is gone. Even a grippy mat only helps so much when a hard lunch box meets a soft seat — that thing is a sled.

The passenger footwell is basically a tiny fenced-in area. Put the box there and the worst case is it slides six inches before hitting the firewall or seat track. If it’s a bigger bag or cooler, wedge it between the passenger seat and the center console. That gap is shaped like a cradle and it’ll stay put for weeks.

If you really need it beside you on the passenger seat, just run the seatbelt across it. Free, and it works way better than any dopo mat. But honestly, the floor is where it belongs.
