The islands put you directly above the falls.
You stand right on the edge looking down as the water drops. That’s the difference.
Prospect Point gives you a classic head-on view. You see the Horseshoe Falls across the river and the American Falls from the side. It’s the postcard shot.
From Goat Island and especially Luna Island, you walk out to where the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls start their plunge. You’re looking straight down into the mist and roar. You feel the spray on your face. It’s not just seeing the falls — it’s standing where the river becomes the falls.
If you want the postcard, Prospect Point is fine. If you want to feel small and wet, take the short walk to the islands.
