The Political Alliance: Roger Waters and Noam Chomsky

Roger Waters has long cited Noam Chomsky as a major intellectual influence, particularly on issues of U.S. foreign policy and media manipulation. The two have appeared together at political events—most notably at the 2015 “Stop the War” coalition rally in London, where Chomsky spoke and Waters performed.

Waters also interviewed Chomsky for his 2014 film The Wall reenactment, and they’ve traded public praise in interviews. While not close personal friends, their relationship is a consistent working alliance rooted in shared activism against war, imperialism, and state propaganda. Chomsky once said Waters “understands the political reality better than most musicians.”
