The Rolling Stones' Rain-Soaked Acoustic Duo in D.C., 2019

During their June 1, 2019 stop at FedExField in Landover, Maryland, the Stones got caught in a brief but heavy rain shower about halfway through the show. Rather than stop, Mick Jagger looked up, laughed, and said, “We’re all getting wet together,” before leading the band into a short, unplugged-style interlude right there on the main stage.

They played only two songs acoustically: “Wild Horses” and “Dead Flowers.” Jagger strapped on an acoustic guitar, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood followed suit, and the whole stadium sang along through the rain. Jagger kept the mood light, ad-libbing lines and pointing at fans who were dancing in the downpour. The moment became a highlight of the tour—proof that a little weather only adds to the show.
