The three questions that catch goal drift
Your weekly habit review needs prompts that force you to compare what you did against what actually matters.
Most people track habits like they’re checking boxes. “Did I exercise? Did I write? Did I network?” That’s fine for consistency, but it completely misses the real problem: you might be grinding on the wrong thing.
The quarterly goal changes. The market shifts. Your priorities evolve. And you’re still doing last quarter’s routine like a robot.
Here are the prompts that catch misalignment before it costs you months:
“Did this week’s work move me closer to my quarterly objective, or just feel productive?”
This separates action from motion. You can feel busy all week and be nowhere.
“What am I doing out of habit that I’d cut if I had to start from scratch today?”
Zero-based budgeting for your time. If you wouldn’t start it now, why are you still doing it?
“What important thing am I avoiding because it’s uncomfortable or unclear?”
Misalignment often hides inside avoidance.
