The walk to the farthest island is too long and too exposed for most toddlers.
Yes. You will regret it halfway there. Toddlers have short legs, no sense of pace, and zero interest in “scenic views” when they’re hot and tired. Even if your kid is a good walker, the sun exposure on an open path — no shade, reflected off sand or water — is brutal. Sunscreen only does so much, and reapplying on a squirming toddler mid-walk is a nightmare.
If you must go, bring a carrier or a stroller with a good canopy. Plan the walk for early morning or late afternoon. And accept that you’ll be carrying a complaining kid on your shoulders for the last quarter-mile. Or just skip it. The nearest island has the same sand and water, just closer to the bathroom.
Future you does not need a sunburned toddler meltdown.
