They weren't always The Beatles.

The Quarrymen. That’s the name John Lennon started with in 1956. Named after Quarry Bank High School, where they were students.

From there it got weirder—they went through Johnny and the Moondogs, then The Silver Beetles, before landing on The Beatles in 1960. The “silver” came from a Stu Sutcliffe suggestion, “beetles” a Buddy Holly homage.

So if you’re asking for the original name, it’s The Quarrymen. But they were a skiffle band then, not the Beatles we know.
