Thick sandwiches need their own box

The best lunch box for a thick sandwich is not a lunch box at all—it’s a dedicated sandwich container with a domed lid.

Regular lunch boxes squish because they stack stuff on top. You toss in an apple, a yogurt, maybe a bag of chips, and by noon your ciabatta is a flat pancake. Even a large bento box usually has a shallow main compartment, so the bread pushes against the lid and flattens the toppings.

What you want is a hard plastic sandwich keeper with a tall, rounded lid—the kind that looks like it’s designed for a burger or a sub. Rubbermaid and Sistema make good ones, and they’re cheap. The dome clears even a piled-high sandwich, and the hard shell takes weight without bending. If the sandwich is tall enough that the dome barely fits, wrap it in parchment paper before closing; it also keeps the fillings from sliding around.

It’s a boring purchase, but it works. Your BLT stays a BLT, not a BLT smear. Future You deserves better.
