Thicker mousepads won't fix uneven desks.
Not really. The difference between 3mm and 5mm is negligible for cursor precision once you’re on any half-decent pad.
What matters more is the surface underneath. If your desk is actually warped or has a dip, the pad conforms to that shape regardless of thickness. A 5mm pad might feel a bit plusher, but it won’t magically level out a bump. The sensor’s tracking relies on the pad being flat, not thick.
If your desk is truly uneven, you’re better off fixing the desk (shim a leg, use a leveling mat) or getting a hard pad that bridges the gap. Thicker foam pads are for comfort, not precision.
But honestly? Unless you’re a competitive FPS player who can feel a single pixel shift, either thickness will work fine.
