Three sarong ties are plenty.

Yes, but don’t overcomplicate it. You only need three basic knots to cover every beach situation.

The high-waist wrap is the most useful: fold the sarong in half lengthwise, wrap around your waist, and tie at the hip. It’s a skirt that stays put for walking to the water or cafe. The side-knot dress is next: hold the sarong behind you, bring the top corners forward, tie them at your chest, then tie the bottom corners at your hip. Takes ten seconds, looks like you tried. The halter is for when you actually want to swim but need something over your suit: fold the sarong into a triangle, tie the two long ends behind your neck, and the other two behind your back.

Anything beyond those three is just accessories. A leather belt cinched over the wrap looks different, or you can twist the fabric for texture. But really, the material does the work — a lightweight rayon or cotton sarong drapes better than a stiff polyester one.

You’ll spend more time in the water than fussing with fabric.
