Tie a sandbag to the bottom

To prevent your pool float from flipping, you need to add weight to the underside or anchor it down.

Most pool floats flip because they’re too light and the wind catches them, or your weight shifts and the center of gravity is all wrong. Inflatables are especially bad about this — they have zero ballast.

The easiest fix is a small mesh bag filled with sand or a few rocks, tied to the D-ring or a strap on the bottom of the float. You can buy specific pool float anchors online for like $15, or just use an old drawstring bag. The weight doesn’t need to be huge — a couple pounds is usually enough to keep the thing from cartwheeling in a breeze.

If you don’t want to mess with bags, look for floats that have built-in ballast pockets (usually on the underside). Or just get a lounger that’s wider and lower to the water. The tall, narrow ones are always going to be tippy.

Your float won’t be drifting to the neighbor’s yard anymore.
