Track your painting habit by counting sessions, not days.
If you can only paint when the studio is open, the gear is available, or the kids are out of the house, a daily streak is a trap. You’re setting yourself up to feel like you failed because of logistics you can’t control.
Instead, track the number of sessions over a longer window — a week or a month. Set a realistic target like “paint 4 times this month” or “hit the studio 2x per week, average.” Then mark each session as it happens. That way, a missed day doesn’t derail you, and you’re still building the habit of showing up when you can.
You can also prep a simple log: a note on your phone or a paper calendar where you just write the date each time you paint. No zeroes on bad days — only the sessions count.
Focus on what you actually did, not what you couldn’t.
