Treat habits as the engine, not the dashboard

Integrating habit tracking with your Q1 goal review sessions is simpler than you think: use habits as the leading indicators for your goals.
Most people treat habits and goals as separate lists. That’s dumb. Your weekly planning should start with a quick scan of habit streaks that directly support your current quarterly objectives. If you’re trying to write a book (Q1 goal) but skipped writing three days in a row, that’s more useful to address than wondering why the goal feels far away.
During a monthly check-in, look at your habit data before you touch the goal itself. Ask: “Did I do the things I planned to do?” If yes and the goal still isn’t moving, your habit is wrong or your goal needs adjustment. If no, don’t rewrite the goal – fix the habit first. Keep it tight: pick no more than three habits tied to each Q1 goal. Everything else is noise.
Don’t track habits for the sake of it. Track the ones that move your goals.
