Trust no lunch container. Use a bag inside a bag.
No lunch container is truly leakproof, so the smart move is to accept that and put the container inside a zip-top bag before it goes in your backpack.
Even the fancy ones with rubber gaskets and four locking clips fail eventually. The seal gets a crumb stuck in it, or the pressure change in your backpack forces liquid out past the lid. And when it fails, it ruins your laptop, not just a sandwich.
So the fix is redundant: buy a decent container with a silicone gasket, and still put it in a freezer-grade zip-top bag. The bag catches the leak. That’s it. Also make sure the rim of the container is clean and dry before you close it—that’s where most leaks start.
If you’re packing something really wet like soup or yogurt, use a separate small container just for the liquid, and keep it upright in a side pocket. Don’t try to solve this with a “leakproof” lid alone.
Future You deserves a dry laptop.
