Twirl against the plate, not a spoon
Rest the fork tines against the inside curve of the plate’s rim and twirl.
Spoons are the enemy here. They give you a bigger surface to sling sauce from, and they’re one more thing to wash. The plate rim lets you control the twist without lifting the fork too high. Start with a small bundle of spaghetti, press it into the rim, and rotate. The pasta wraps around itself, not flying off.
If you’re using a deep bowl, the same trick works against the sidewall. Just keep the fork low and close to the bowl. Splatter happens when you lift the fork too high or use too much force. Slow, steady rotation is key.
A spoon looks elegant on Instagram but it’s just extra metal in the way.
