Use a gear repair patch, not a sewing kit.

Yes, for a small tear in a beach tent, slap on an adhesive patch like Tenacious Tape or a similar gear repair patch. It takes 30 seconds and holds up better than stitching.

Sewing a beach tent is a pain. The fabric is thin, the thread can rip new holes, and you’re probably standing in sand with wind trying to kill your project. Patches are waterproof, flexible, and stick to nylon or polyester just fine. Clean the area, peel and stick, press hard. Done.

If you don’t have a patch, clear duct tape works in a pinch, but it won’t last more than a few uses. Gear patches are cheap and live in your beach bag for next time.

You want to get back to the beach, not become a tent tailor.
