Use baskets to hide both shoes and pet stuff
The simplest way to declutter a small entryway is to use a few large baskets and wall hooks for both shoes and pet supplies.
Here’s the trick: stop treating shoes and pet stuff as separate categories. They are both “things that belong near the door.” One big basket for shoes. Another for leashes, collars, poop bags, and treats. Mount a couple of hooks above the basket for leash or harness, and maybe a small shelf for keys and a dish of treats. Everything goes in one spot.
You don’t need more furniture. Just one small console or bench with baskets underneath. If you’re tight on floor space, go vertical: a narrow shoe cabinet with a top shelf for pet stuff works too. The point is containment, not separation. Messy baskets are easier to toss things into than trying to maintain a perfect system.
If you’re really cramped, hang a small wall-mounted organizer with pockets – shoes in bottom ones, pet gear in top ones. Same principle.
One basket for shoes, one for pet stuff, and you’re done. Future you will thank you every time you walk in the door.
