Voodoo Lounge's Grammy Win and Emmylou Harris Cameo

The Rolling Stones’ 1994 album Voodoo Lounge won the Grammy for Best Rock Album at the 37th Annual Grammy Awards in 1995. It was their first studio album in five years and marked a return to a grittier, rootsier sound after the polished Steel Wheels.

The track that features Emmylou Harris on backing vocals is “The Worst,” a slow, country-tinged ballad. Harris’s harmonies add a soft, haunting layer to Mick Jagger’s weary vocal, giving the song a dusty, late-night feel. It’s one of the few times the Stones used her distinctive voice on record.
