Wall-mounted shoe shelves are the answer.
The ideal system for a tiny entryway is a wall-mounted shoe shelf that’s only as deep as your shoes—about 6 to 8 inches. No floor space, no tripping hazard, and you can mount it behind the door so it’s out of sight.
You’ve got a few good options. The IKEA Trones cabinet is basically made for this: it’s 7 inches deep, mounts on the wall, and each unit holds about 3-4 pairs. Stack them vertically to fit your space. Or if you’re handy, build a shallow floating shelf with a lip—just deep enough for one row of shoes laid sideways.
The trick is keeping the depth shallow enough that you’re not hitting it with your hip every time you walk by. Measure your doorway’s swing or any wall space that’s currently dead air. A door-mounted organizer can work too, but only if your door doesn’t slam into something when open.
Don’t overthink it. You need to store shoes vertically, not horizontally. That’s the whole game.
Your floor space is for walking—not for piles of sneakers.
