Wash cloth mousepads every 2–3 months with mild soap and air dry.
That’s the sweet spot. Wash too often and the surface wears out faster. Wash too rarely and you’re dragging your mouse through dead skin and coffee rings.
For preserving texture, skip the washing machine. Hand wash with warm water and a drop of dish soap. Use your fingers to work the soap in gently — no scrubbing with a brush or sponge. Rinse thoroughly, then press out water with a towel (don’t wring it). Let it air dry flat.
Machine washing is faster but rough on the fibers and can warp the rubber base. Soak in bleach or harsh cleaners? Definitely not. You want the glide to stay smooth, not feel like sandpaper.
If yours is just dusty, a quick wipe with a damp microfiber cloth works between deep cleans.
