Water and a microfiber cloth.
Water and a microfiber cloth. That’s it.
Apple’s screen has an anti-reflective coating that’s surprisingly delicate. Alcohol, Windex, paper towels, or your shirt will strip it over time. I’ve seen MacBooks with permanent blotchy spots because someone used a Clorox wipe.
Dampen a clean microfiber cloth (not soaking wet) with plain water. Wipe the screen gently. Dry with a second microfiber cloth. For the body—same thing. Water and microfiber. If there’s stubborn grime, a tiny drop of dish soap in the water works, but rinse the cloth well.
Don’t spray anything directly onto the laptop. Spray the cloth. And don’t use vinegar or ammonia either—those are too harsh for the coating.
Stick with water. Your MacBook’s coating will thank you.
