Wear white, not black

Light-colored clothing—white, beige, light gray—is your best bet to avoid attracting mosquitoes.

Mosquitoes are drawn to dark colors like black, navy, and red because they stand out against the horizon and help them find hosts. Dark colors also hold more heat, and mosquitoes are heat-seekers. Light colors reflect heat and are less visually appealing to them.

It’s not a silver bullet. They still smell your CO2 and sweat. But if you’re sitting outside in the evening, your navy t‑shirt is basically a landing strip. Swap it for something light and you’ll notice fewer bugs buzzing around you.

You don’t need to dress like a ghost. Just don’t dress like a ninja.
