Were 'The Beginning' and 'The End' Always Played in That Order on The Man and The Journey Tour?

On the 1969 The Man and The Journey tour, Pink Floyd structured the show into two halves: “The Man” and “The Journey.” “The Beginning” (the early take of “Green is the Colour”) opened the journey section, and “The End” (an early version of “Celestial Voices”) closed the entire show. They were always performed in that fixed order—the band never swapped them or reversed the sequence.

This is because the two pieces were essentially bookends for an improvised middle section that could vary night to night. The narrative of the journey required a clear start and a clear finish. Even when the setlist shifted around other songs, “The Beginning” stayed at the front and “The End” stayed at the back to maintain the story arc. No known recording or setlist shows them swapped.
