Smartphone VR headsets are a fun novelty — not a long-term investment

I bought one of these for my kid expecting it to be a hit, and it was — for about two afternoons. The novelty of sticking your phone in a plastic headset and looking around a 360-degree video is genuinely fun the first time. But the image quality depends entirely on your phone’s screen, most of the apps are gimmicky, and kids quickly realize they can’t really play or interact with anything. It’s a fun stocking stuffer, but don’t expect it to hold attention long-term.
