Which Rolling Stones album earned their first Grammy for Best Rock Album?

The Rolling Stones didn’t win a Grammy for Best Rock Album until the award category even existed. It was introduced in 1995, and that first year the prize went to Voodoo Lounge — their 1994 studio comeback with new bassist Darryl Jones. The album beat out Pearl Jam’s Vitalogy and R.E.M.’s Monster, among others.

For a band that had been at it since the early ’60s, it was their first competitive Grammy in any major category. They’d only won a single previous Grammy (Best Album Package for Tattoo You in 1981). So Voodoo Lounge finally got them the rock album trophy, 31 years into their career.
