The pig for the 1977 Animals tour was a 40‑foot‑long, helium‑filled monster. Its sheer size made it a nightmare to control. On a calm night the tether might hold, but any gust of wind turned it into a bucking bronco – the band had to keep it on a short leash or risk losing it over the stadium.

The worst problem was its seams. The first pig built for the
