Yes, you can use cast iron on a glass-top stove. Millions of people do it every day. The trick is not being a psychopath about it.
The scratching doesn’t come from the iron itself — it comes from dragging the pan across the glass. If you slide a rough-bottomed cast iron skillet across the surface, you’re basically using sandpaper. So don’t do that. Lift the pan cleanly when you move it. No sliding, no shoving, no pan-fu.
Two other things: make sure the bottom of your pan is flat (no warped ring around the edge) and keep the cooking surface free of grit. A single grain of salt or piece of food caught under the pan can scratch the glass just as bad. And don’t drop it. Obviously.
Glass tops are more durable than people think, but they’re still glass. Treat it like a nice countertop, not a camping stove, and you’ll be fine.
