Yeti and Thermos keep winning for a reason.

If you want a lunch box that survives a construction site or a fifth grader, the Yeti Daytrip and Thermos Stainless King are the two that keep showing up at the top of consumer tests.

Wirecutter has recommended the Yeti Daytrip as the upgrade pick for years, and it’s not because of the logo. The fabric is thick, the zipper is sealed, and the insulation holds up after a thousand openings. It’s not the cheapest, but it’s the one you won’t have to replace next year.

Thermos Stainless King is the other obvious one. It’s a steel tank that you could basically drop off a roof and still eat lunch from. It’s less cool-looking but more rugged. Good Housekeeping and other consumer tests regularly rank it as one of the most durable.

Avoid anything with a vinyl exterior or a zipper that feels thin. That’s what breaks first in every test.

If you want one box to last a decade, get the Yeti. If you want to spend less and don’t mind the old-school look, Thermos is the move.
