Yeti coolers are overpriced for most people.
Probably not. Unless you’re guiding river trips or leaving a cooler in direct sun for a week straight, a Yeti is overkill.
The magic is the rotomolded construction and thick insulation. Yeti didn’t invent it—they just popularized it. Plenty of cheaper brands (RTIC, Ozark Trail, Pelican) use the same process. An Ozark Trail rotomolded cooler costs about half as much and keeps ice just as long in real-world use. The main difference is the latch and the logo.
For beach days, tailgates, or car camping, a basic Coleman works fine. Ice lasts a day, maybe two. That’s enough for 99% of people. Spend the extra $200 on something that matters more.
Your cooler probably doesn’t need to keep ice for a week.
