You don't need all those coats. Store the rest under the bed.

The best way to handle bulky winter coats in a studio with no closet is to cut your collection in half, then vacuum-seal the rest and slide them under your bed.

Let’s be real: if you live in a studio, you probably don’t have space for six parkas. Take a hard look at what you actually wore last winter. Be honest. Donate or sell the ones that didn’t make the cut. You’re not a coat museum.

For the survivors, vacuum compression bags are the move. They shrink a puffy down jacket to the size of a throw pillow. Even a heavy wool coat becomes manageable. Just make sure the coats are clean and dry before you seal them—mold loves trapped moisture. Then slide the bags under your bed or on top of a high shelf. If you’re really tight on space, a flat storage ottoman doubles as a bench and a hiding spot.

One or two coats you’ll wear in early fall or late spring? Hang them behind a door on an over-the-door hook rack. That’s not storage, that’s rotation. Everything else gets compressed and forgotten until November.

Future you will thank you for the floor space.
