You'll need to re-enable XMP, but skip the BIOS update.
Probably not. Upgrading from 16GB to 32GB is just a capacity change – same DDR generation, same speed rating? The BIOS won’t need a version bump. XMP is a different story.
Most motherboards will detect the new sticks and boot at default speeds (usually 2133 or 2400 MHz). If you want your kit’s rated speed, you’ll need to go into BIOS and turn XMP back on. It’s a two-click fix. No flashing required.
If your new kit is a different speed or timings than the old one, XMP might not even apply. Check the motherboard QVL if you’re feeling paranoid, but realistically: swap sticks, boot, set XMP, done.
Future You will thank Present You for not messing with a BIOS update.
