Your beeswax wrap isn't for everything
The best no-waste lunch setup is simpler than you think: airtight containers for anything wet or messy, reusable wraps for dry stuff, and you probably already own it all.
The wrap is the star of zero-waste Instagram, but it’s the weakest tool in your kit. Beeswax wraps are great for sandwiches, cheese, apples, and crackers. They are not great for yogurt, dressing, soup, or anything that leaks — they don’t seal, and washing them in hot water melts the wax. Same story for silicone bags: fine for berries and granola, annoying for anything saucy.
So let the containers do the heavy lifting. A mason jar for the dressing, a Tupperware for the leftovers, a stainless or glass box for the main event. A single bento-style box means you skip individual wrapping entirely, which is the real win.
Pack the sauce in a small jar, throw in a cloth napkin, and you’re done. You don’t need a matching set to save the planet — you need a jar and a lid.
