Your best lunch box is a set of five glass containers
For five identical weekday lunches, the best lunch box is not one lunch box—it’s a matching set of five glass meal prep containers.
You don’t need fancy bento boxes. You need five of the same leak-proof containers you can fill on Sunday and grab one every morning. Pyrex Simply Store or Glasslock are both good picks: glass base, snap-on lid, safe in the fridge, freezer, microwave, and dishwasher. Glass won’t stain from tomato sauce or hold onto smells like cheap plastic.
Why identical? Because meal prep gets stupid easy when every day is the same. Cook once, portion once, stack the whole week in the fridge, and you never think about lunch again. If you reheat at work, glass handles the microwave better than plastic, too. Just pop the lid off.
One catch: glass is heavier. If you’re walking a lot or don’t want the weight, a hard plastic set like Rubbermaid Brilliance is a fine compromise. But for most people, five glass containers is the straight answer.
Future You on Thursday morning will be grateful.
