Your coiled mousepad *will* get permanent creases.

Yes, they do—and depending on how long it’s been coiled, those creases may be impossible to fully remove.

The problem is the rubber backing. Over time (weeks to months), the rubber “takes a set” where it was folded. The fabric on top follows. Rolling it in the opposite direction for a few days can help a little, but it usually doesn’t undo the crease entirely.

Heat can soften the rubber enough to relax it. I’ve had decent luck with a hair dryer on low—warm the crease, then lay it flat under a stack of books for a day. Do not use an iron directly on the pad (melting disaster). Even with heat, some creases remain if the pad was coiled tight for years.

Prevention is the only reliable fix: store it flat, or roll it loosely with the fabric side out so the natural curve works
