Your kid with braces needs a thermos, not a fancy lunch box
The best lunch box for a child with braces or dental work isn’t a special “braces-friendly” lunch box—it’s an insulated thermos you put inside a regular bento box. No container by itself keeps food soft.
Soft foods like mac and cheese, soup, mashed potatoes, or pasta stay soft only if they stay warm or cold. A good thermos does that. The lunch box part is just for carrying it.
If you want everything in one thing, OmieBox is the stand-out option: it has a built-in thermos plus compartments for soft sides like applesauce or yogurt. If you already have a lunch box you like, just buy a kid-sized thermos and drop it in. That works just as well.
The “soft food holders” you see on some sites are mostly just silicone cups or dividers. They’re fine for keeping yogurt from getting smashed by a sandwich, but they don’t keep anything soft or warm. Don’t pay extra for that.
And skip anything marketed specifically “for braces.” You don’t need a special lunch box—you need to pack softer foods and keep them at the right temperature. That’s it.
Pack the food, not the problem.
